The USS Ling, a high-speed submarine commissioned in 1945, never saw battle during World War II. After being decommissioned, it was repurposed as a training ship and later reclassified as an Auxiliary Submarine. It currently resides at the New Jersey Naval Museum, though it is not open to the public.

The Quester I, a 45-foot submarine built by Brooklyn shipyard worker Jerry Bianco, was designed to recover sunken treasure from the SS Andrea Doria. Unfortunately, it became stuck when the operator failed to follow proper instructions during its descent in 1970. The submarine remains abandoned alongside other shipwrecks in Coney Island Creek.
